Murder suspect arrested after officers spot car speeding through tornado disaster area

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A murder suspect was arrested over the weekend after officers spotted a car speeding through a tornado disaster area.

Around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, Mobile Reserve officers patrolling the tornado disaster area saw a heavily tinted black Toyota Camry driving at a high rate of speed. When police attempted to pull the car over, it drove off and crashed shortly after.

Police said that a 29-year-old wanted for murder, Anthony Tobias-Haywood, was arrested. A 20-year-old man was also taken into custody.

Tobias-Haywood is accused of killing Daniel Hughes, 27, in the 1600 block of Hamilton on April 22, 2024. An at-large warrant was issued for his arrest in October 2024 for first-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action.

According to authorities, guns and suspected narcotics were also seized.
