A man was killed after being struck by an SUV while trying to help a driver whose vehicle had broken down Monday evening.(First Alert 4)

WRIGHT CITY, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A man was killed after being struck by an SUV while trying to help a driver whose vehicle had broken down Monday evening.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 6:45 p.m. on North West Service Road.

A man pulled over in front of another vehicle that had broken down on the side of the westbound lane, but didn’t pull completely off the road. Troopers say the man got out and went to speak to the driver of the vehicle, and when he walked back to his vehicle, he was struck by another vehicle ing by.

MSHP says the man was standing out in the lane of traffic beside his vehicle when he was struck.

The 58-year-old man was pronounced dead on scene.
