ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Two suspects are facing charges in connection with a shooting that left one person dead and another injured in Alton on Wednesday.

Jermaine Stiff, 44, and Hosea Burgess, 20, are charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a repeat offender.

Police say a man was found shot inside a car in the 3100 block of Lawn Street around 9:30 p.m. The victim, later identified as 41-year-old Donald Lane, was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Officers on the scene were then told that a second victim arrived at a local hospital.

Police believe the shooting was not random.

Stiff is in custody in Madison County. Burgess is being held at the St. Louis City Justice Center and is awaiting extradition to Madison County.
