Investigation at South City home tied to missing woman
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) — An ongoing investigation at a south St. Louis home stemmed from a missing person investigation from 2020.
At 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s SWAT team executed a search warrant at a home near the corner of Dewey and Delor. Once the home was secured, federal law enforcement partners were called in to help.
The investigation, which included FBI agents digging in a yard, wrapped up around 6 p.m. Thursday, police said only suspected narcotics were found.
Two people, a 43-year-old man and 39-year-old woman, have been detained as part of the investigation. The woman reportedly had outstanding warrants and was taken into custody on them. Police later said that neither of them were in custody relative to the investigation at the home.
A nearby resident named Cain said the home on the corner was notorious within the neighborhood.
“None of the neighbors would talk to him. he was always just off. I would never see him outside. If he was, he was in the backyard with his dogs, never in the front, always was with his dogs, yeah it was always just a little off feeling about that house,” said Cain.
First Alert 4 crews at the scene witnessed officers with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police and the Federal Investigation Bureau’s Evidence Response Team entering the house and yard and using excavators to dig in the yard.
At a press conference Thursday afternoon, a spokesperson for the police department said that no human remains have been found at the home. The spokesperson also made a point to dispel rumors circulating on social media about a mass grave at the location.
On Friday, St. Louis police confirmed that the search was connected to the disappearance of Bre’Ayn Miller, who was 20 years old when she went missing in 2020.
