ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A group of court-appointed commissioners has set a price for the Railway Exchange.

The group has determined that the City of St. Louis should pay $7.3 million for the former home of Famous Barr’s flagship store. The price is $2 million more than what the Land Clearance Development Authority proposed to pay.

The price follows an ongoing legal battle by the City to take over the building through eminent domain.

The 1.2 million sq. ft. building, which was formerly the site of Famous Barr and Macy’s, is the second largest downtown, and presents significant challenges for redevelopment due to the neglect and damages to the building over the past decade.
